This carefully-crafted, new-build scheme, on a prominent corner in the Clapham Junction Conservation Area, replaces an under-used and dilapidated building.

Despite only making minor changes to the massing, the accommodation on the site has been doubled through simplification of the floorplan layouts. The existing building was originally built as part of a terrace, but was remodelled in the 1930s, leaving it unrecognisable. The upper floors were in such poor condition that they were barely used, despite being designated ancillary to the coffee shop on the ground floor.

In contrast, our proposal celebrates the site's corner plot, reflecting the decorative corner buildings that are found throughout the conservation area. In fact, the new building will enhance the conservation area, through its use of high-quality traditional materials and detailing. In addition, the high-quality dwellings will make a valuable contribution to Wandsworth's housing targets.
